Go-Jek in Malaysia soon?

Aug 20, 2019

The Youth and Sports Minister wants to bring motorcycle-hailing company Go-Jek into Malaysia.

Syed Saddiq told Astro Awani the motorcycle hailing service will help young motorcyclists in the country.

"Our young motorcyclists want jobs, they want a good quality of life. And they want the doors or opportunity to open up. In Malaysia, the fact that we disallow two-wheel transportation, especially people-to-people transportation, kills off a big sector of the industry."

He says Go-Jek can also help small business owners who can have their goods listed for delivery via motorcycle.

The Environment Minister assured the authorities will be vigilant, and also expressed support for vocal protesters of the rare earth processing factory.

Yeo Bee Yin said protesters have a right to speak out, adding she respects their views on government policies.

Many Malaysians are up in arms after the government allowed Lynas a six-month licence renewal, contingent on several conditions.
