Tun M: No one is being forced to use bike ride-hailing

Aug 23, 2019

No one is being forced to use motorcyle ride-hailing.

The Prime Minister says if people don't feel safe, they don't have to use the service as they have other transportation options.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also candid about the criticisms over the government's proposal to bring Go Jek into the country.

He says as with any project, there will always be people who oppose, but what is important is whether it will serve the country or not.

On another matter, Tun M confirmed that toll collection on the PLUS Highway will continue even if the concessionaire is taken over by another entity.

DBP slams renaming of sports program

Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka is taking shots at the Youth and Sports Ministry for renaming Hari Sukan Negara as Malaysia Sports Challenge.

The government is hoping the name change will help attract an international audience, but Dewan Bahasa feels it diminishes the importance of the national language.

It has suggested for the name of the programme to be in dual languages instead, with the BM name given priority.
