​Lee Lam Thye calls for more mental health programmes in schools

Activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye wants more mental health awareness campaigns in schools, after a teenager in Penang killed himself, allegedly over homework stress. 

Tan Sri Lee said the government needs to train more counsellors and psychologists to help those suffering from stress, anxiety and depression. 

The Education Minister earlier said nothing can be done until an investigation into the tragedy is complete.

Palm oil to fund better defence?

Malaysia wants to boost its defence equipment and is hoping to pay for them with palm oil.

The Defence Minister says the goverment is in talks with six countries for a barter, following a cut in the defence budget. 

The planned barter is part of a 10-year defence policy to be tabled in parliament this year, focusing on boosting our naval capabilities.

Sabah teacher sentenced to jail over sex offences against students

The primary school disciplinary teacher in Sabah, accused of sexually assaulting eight female students, has been sentenced to 80 years jail and 20 strokes of the cane.
