RON95 stays at RM2.08, for now...

Sep 17, 2019

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has assured the price cap for RON95 petrol will not be increased for now, despite the attacks on two Saudi Arabia oil plants.

Global oil prices soared after the coordinated attacks last Saturday took out more than half of Saudi Arabia's output, or more than 5 percent of global oil supply.

The US has since pointed the finger at Iran, issuing satellite images and citing intelligence as proof.

However, Iran has denied it was involved.

Sri Aman hits hazardous-level air

Sri Aman in Sarawak has become the first area in the country to breach the hazardous API level in this haze cycle.

The situation has been steadily getting worse since last night.

Back in the Peninsular, all schools in Putrajaya are closed and so are 145 in Selangor.

Areas with very unhealthy air quality are Johan Setia in Klang, Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan, and Kuching in Sarawak.

Nilai and Klang are close to breaching the very unhealthy levels as well.

Schools in Johor and Melaka will reopen today after API readings dropped below 200, but at last look, the air quality in Bukit Rambai is close to hitting the very unhealthy level.

Amirudin Shari moves to crack down on open burning in Selangor

Farmers in Selangor who persist with open burning will see their lands taken away.

The state MB says the stern action has to be taken, as farmers are ignoring directives to stop the practice.

It's especially bad in Johan Setia, which is the only area in the state with very unhealthy air quality.

Slash and burn farming has been blamed for the bad haze in the area.
