Is the official API reading accurate?

The Dept of Environment's official Air Pollutant Index reading is not directly linked to visibility.

The Deputy Prime Minister says the API figure is based on a 24-hour average, and assures that the figure was verified first, before being made public.

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail adds that the data is verified before it is made available to the public.

She was responding to questions about the API's accuracy, after visibility levels in several parts of the country dropped yesterday.
