No set date for Anwar to take the helm

Sep 24, 2019

Pakatan Harapan has not set a specific date, for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister.

This was clarified by the Prime Minister's communications and media advisor Datuk A. Kadir Jasin:

"There's no specified date stated on any document. Even in the agreement amongst Pakatan Harapan leaders, including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim."

It comes following a recent statement by Datuk Seri Anwar, that he was confident of taking over by May next year.

All schools reopen as haze starts to clear

The haze appears to be showing signs of easing.

So far only 25 areas nationwide have unhealthy API readings, down from 27 earlier this morning.

Johan Setia in Klang remains the area with the worst air quality.

The clearer air also means that all schools are open today.

The Health Minsitry, however, is still keeping a close watch on haze-related illnesses.

This, amid a recent increase in asthma and conjuntivitis cases.

It's continuing to advise those in high-risk groups like kids and the elderly, as well as those with existing respiratory conditions, to take the necessary precautions.

Standardised 'pasar malams' soon?

The Housing and Local Government Ministry is working on having standardised guidelines for pasar malam nationwide.

Each night market is currently governed by the rules and regulations of their respective local authorities, but the Ministry says having a consistent set of guidelines can help address complaints like rubbish dumping, noise and traffic congestion.
