Tun M says SST will stay for now

The government says the sales and services tax, SST will stay for now.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says it is to late for it to be abolished in Budget 2020, as it will be tabled next Friday.

Earlier this week, the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research suggested replacing the current Sales and Services Tax with GST, but at a lower rate of 3 percent. 

But, Tun M says it will consider reinstating the GST in the future, if that's what the people want.

3 countries agreed to take back waste containers by year-end

The Environment Minister says 3 countries have verbally agreed to take 89 containers of waste material back without any cost to Malaysia.

But she refused to name the countries.

The containers are were stuck in various ports in Malaysia because they have nowhere to go.

Bersatu will most likely represent PH in the Tg Piai by-election

Bersatu will most likely represent Pakatan Harapan in the Tg Piai by-election in Johor.

Party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says this is based of the current PH policy, that seats will be contested by a candidate from the incumbent party.

He adds, Pakatan will meet tomorrow to discuss its strategy for by-election.

The Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat fell vacant after incumbent Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik from a heart attack last month.
