Will we soon see the return of GST?

The government will discuss proposals to bring back the GST, in a meeting on Monday.

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister said the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting will be the best platform the discuss the issue, especially after the Prime Minister said the government will consider reintroducing the tax, if that's what the people want.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers is excited by the Prime Minister's willingness to bring back the GST.

It believes the tax will encourage Malaysian exports to be more competitive on the global stage.

However, it suggested for GST to be imposed at a lower rate of 3 percent, instead of 6 percent, if it is brought back.
