Ushering in the festive flood season

Oct 21, 2019

The government has ordered all local authorities to conduct regular checks on drainage systems and waterways, to ensure the flow of water is not clogged.

This follows another flood warning for the Peninsular's West Coast, as well as parts of Sabah and Sarawak.

So far, flash floods have been reported in KL and Selangor, as well as Perak.

The number of flood evacuees in Hilir Perak rose to over 220 last night.

Fuel subsidy data is safe!

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister has assured the details of those eligible for the Targeted Fuel Subsidy Programme or PSP, are safe.

This comes after the bank details of PSP recipients were leaked on the Ministry's website last week.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail assured the problem was resolved within hours after the news broke, and the databank has been secured.

Arts and Science streams remain for now

The Arts and Science streams are not being abolished, yet.

The Education Minister said previous news reports were based off of a speech he made in Germany, which was not a policy annoucement.

He says the streaming system could still be abolished, but only when the time comes.

Meanwhile, the Ministry will look into reports suggesting that university students are living in cramped conditions off campus.

This comes after Berita Harian claimed high rental rates were forcing uni students to share a home with up to 20 people.
