PKR MPs invited to hear Azmin Ali out on "secret meeting"

Nov 20, 2019

The Economic Affairs Minister has welcomed PKR MPs to see him and be briefed about the secret meeting between him and 22 UMNO MPs that has taken the political scene by storm.

A dozen PKR MPs took him up on his offer yesterday, but there has been no official statement about what was discussed.

So far, UMNO MPs have been giving conflicting reasons for the meeting, with some saying it was to discuss government allocations and others saying it was about the country's future.

Police only allowed to check criminal suspects' phones

The police can only check the handphones of criminal suspects and not any random person.

The Deputy Home Minister clarified confusing reports about the issue, after he earlier revealed the police have the power to go through handphones of the public.

CRS enforcement given grace period

There will be no summonses for the first six months of the Child Restraint System's reinforcement!

The Transport Ministry says from January to June, guardians caught ferrying children without child safety seats will be given warnings and reminders.

The seats are also expected to become cheaper with a zero-percent import duty and only 5 percent SST, compared to 10.

Minister Anthony Loke is hoping to make child seats an SST zero-rated item, but is waiting on the Finance Ministry's approval.
