Govt didn't spend a single sen on Food Bank Siswa Programme

Nov 27, 2019

The government did not spend a single sen on the Food Bank Siswa Programme.

It's because the food was donated from various parties, while the govt merely acted as the programme's coordinator.

The Domestic, Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry says some 21 public unis involving nearly 7,000 students have benefited from the programme so far.

Food Bank Siswa is aimed at helping students from the B40 low-income group, so they can fully focus on their studies.

The price of RON 95 petrol will be floated in stages after the Petrol Subsidy Program comes into effect in January.

The government says the price of the fuel will go up 1 or 2 sen every week, until it reaches market prices.

It adds the incremental increase is to ensure that there won't be a significant jump in the price of daily essentials.
