MOH to act on Sabah Polio case soon
Dec 10, 2019
The 3-month-old Polio patient in Sabah is in stable condition.
Health authorities have not found any traces of the virus in the patient's community in Tuaran so far, but they are not taking any chances.
A large-scale supplementary immunisation drive will be carried out throughout Sabah soon.
Earlier, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad clarified vaccination programmes have always been ongoing, but these are special circumstances:
"When we have an outbreak like this, we intensify our campaign, then we go for outreach programmes. There's no cause for alarm, but we will intensify our work."
Parents have been reminded to immunise their children, especially because there is no cure for Polio.
