Mukhriz is not replacing Maszlee
Jan 08, 2020
Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has denied speculation that he will be the next Education Minister.
The Kedah Menteri Besar says there's a lot more work to be done in the state, and he wants to focus on that.
He admits he did meet with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a day before Dr Maszlee Malik announced his resignation, but insists that the issue of the Cabinet post was never brought up.
This comes days after Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also said that he wasn't in the running for the job.

Restaurants can soon apply to set up designated smoking areas
Restaurants can soon apply to local councils, to set up designated smoking areas outside their premises.
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin says it's currently drafting the necessary paperwork.
"So we are developing the guidelines that the PBT can assign them to build a mini smoking zone outside the restaurant, outside the nearest table or food, three metres away."
She adds, the owner of the premises has to provide rubbish bins for smokers to throw away their cigarette butts, and it's the owner’s responsibility to keep these areas clean.

This comes amid heightened tensions in the region, following the US assassination of a top Iranian military official in Iraq.
