Legal experts are divided over the legality of MACC's release of recorded calls allegedly between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and several others.

Some say it was legal, including lawyer Dinesh Muthal, who told us that the audio clips, even if taped secretly, are admissible in court in Malaysia...

Dinesh Muthal said, "Case laws have stated that even if the evidence was obtained illegally, let's say these audio recordings were obtained illegally, the courts will still look at the relevancy of the evidence first. So the relevancy superceeds the illegality of the form of evidence have been obtained."

Earlier, the Malaysian Bar Council said the expo'se was improper, but added that a thorough investigation of the audio clips must be carried out.
