No charges against Anwar over sexual assault allegations

Jan 15, 2020

No charges will be filed against PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in connection with sexual assault allegations against him by a former research assistant.

The Solicitor-General says the AG's Chambers will not pursue the matter further, due to insufficient evidence.

Separately, Datuk Seri Anwar is again insisting on a proper transition of power from Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

It follows recent calls from several PKR MPs for Tun M to hand over the reins to Anwar by May this year.

Don't blindly consume anti-viral meds

Those who've been infected with influenza are advised to consult their doctors before taking any anti-viral medication.

The Health Director-General says although the medication can help reduce the symptoms of influenza, taking it without the proper medical advice can lead to anti-microbial resistance, which could result in ineffective treatment.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also admits that private flu vaccine suppliers have run out of stock due to the spike in demand.

However, nearly a hundred thousand additional doses will be shipped in later this month.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan is the latest state to record Influenza A cases, with 11 students confirmed to have been infected with the disease.

Traffic cops can issue you a summon

The Perlis police chief has clarified that traffic cops have the authority to issue summonses to offenders, even though they are within school grounds, as long as the school gives its permission.

It comes after some parents complained about a recent incident in the state, where students were issued summonses inside their school compound, mainly for riding without a valid license.
