Tun M: Math and Science to again be taught in English

PM and acting Education Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says English will again be used to teach Mathematics and Science.

He says, "Geography and History can come in any language but Science and Mathematics is not an indigenous field of knowledge. It comes from abroad and most of it comes to us in English and therefore we are going to use English in the teaching of Science and Maths. We find that those who study Science in Malay, later on couldn't work where English is required." 

The policy for teaching Science and Mathematics in English was first introduced in 2003, but was dismantled in 2012.

Malaysia will be donating 18 million medical gloves to Wuhan, China, to help in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic there. 

Primary Industries Minister, Teresa Kok says, the first batch of three million gloves are already on their way, with the rest to follow gradually..

She said, "As Malaysians are concerned about the spread of the virus to our shores, we are equally sympathetic towards China especially given that the two countries share deep cultural and business ties, which has been buitl over decades."

In 2014, Malaysia had sent more than 20 million medical gloves to several African nations during the Ebola outbreak.
