Malaysians in Wuhan return home

Feb 04, 2020

The flight to bring home Malaysian nationals from Wuhan, China landed safely at KLIA early this morning.

There were over a hundred of them on board - comprising our citizens in Wuhan their wives and kids, as well as the team coordinating the repatriation.

They will not be entering the main terminal of KLIA, and will instead be transported by bus to a special location nearby for further screening and decontamination.

The Fire and Rescue Department's Hazardous Materials Unit is also on the ground to assist with the operation.

Separately, in addition to the coronavirus, China has also detected several cases of bird flu in the southern province of Hunan.

The Malaysian Veterinary Services Department says it's keeping a close eye on the matter, but says we currently do not import live animals or related products from the Chinese province.

On a lighter note, claw machine game operators in Taiwan have received warnings from authorities, after offering face masks and sanitizer as prizes.

It comes amid high demand for these products, due to the global coronavirus outbreak.

Authorities are worried these operators are hoarding these items for their game machines, preventing others from buying them.
