Cabinet frenemies

Feb 21, 2020

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is open to the idea of including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his Cabinet, when he eventually becomes the next Prime Minister.

"I will leave it to the Council and it will be great for the country, because of his vast experience, and would certainly help in terms of getting a more peaceful sort of transition and steer the economy forward."

If it happens, it would be the first time a former Malaysian prime minister is part of his succesor's Cabinet.

The PKR president, meanwhile, says there should be no pressure placed on him or Tun M over the much-anticipated leadership transition.

Anwar adds that Malaysia's economy will be the main agenda for today's Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting.

Second Wuhan batch to come home

Malaysia will bring home a second group of its citizens from Wuhan next Tuesday, following the Covid-19 outbreak in China.

Wisma Putra, however, did not announce the number of Malaysians who would be brought back home through the second group.

Earlier this month, 107 Malaysians were flown home from Wuhan, via a special aircraft through a humanitarian aid mission carried out by the Malaysian government.
