Where do we go from here?

Feb 25, 2020

The Pakatan Haparan presidential council will hold an emergency meeting today, to discuss the latest political developments.

So far, component members Amanah and DAP have voiced their support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to continue leading the country.

It follows Tun M's shock resignation as Prime Minister yesterday, and his subsequent appointment by the King as the temporary PM until a successor is named.

The Chief Secretary also announced last night that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has canceled the appointments of all Ministers, in line with the PM's resignation.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission says it is prepared for the possibility of a general election being called.

Chairman Datuk Azhar Harun says the EC is ready to do its job, if and when it is called upon.

Those "on Azmin's side" deny betraying Pakatan

Former PKR MPss aligned with Datuk Seri Azmin Ali have issued a statement, denying that they've betrayed the party and the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

The group of 11 lawmakers say the real traitors, are those who tried to oust Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

They claim there are some who are more focused on removing the Prime Minister, rather than running the country.

This comes amid speculation that Azmin is actually the man behind the current political drama.

Some are accusing him of working with PAS, UMNO and certain members of Bersatu to form a new government.

In a related development, Gerakan has brushed off speculation that Azmin could be joining the party.

Gerakan's President says he's not received any application from Azmin to join, but adds that they will accept anyone who believes and abides by the party's ideology and constitution.
