PH To Form The Next Government?

Feb 26, 2020

Pakatan Harapan claim they still enjoy a simple majority to form the next government.

As such, Amanah communications director Khalid Samad says the issue of a possible snap election will not arise.

"Why should we waste money on fresh polls, when we can get a clear majority?"

The remaining members of the collapsed Pakatan Harapan government - PKR, DAP and Amanah -  are expected to reveal their candidate for PM after their audience with the King today.

Meanwhile, the remaining MPs who have yet to be interviewed by the King personally will be making a beeline to the Palace today.

Political Analyst Dr Oh Ei Sun has praised the Yang DiPertuan Agong's move to meet 222 MPs individually over two days to determine who they want as PM.

" The Agong is indeed very diligently exercising his constitutional duty to see, in His Majesty's opinion, which political coalition would command support in the Dewan Rakyat and thereby its leader could become the next PM."

By-elections in Penang?

The Penang CM says the state may call two by-elections in the wake of Bersatu's departure from PH.

This is because it deems the Teluk Bahang and Bertam seats previously held by the party vacant under the state’s 2012 anti-hopping law.

Humanitarian flight touches down in KL

An evacuation flight from Wuhan, China - the epicentre of the Covid-19 outbreak -  has arrived at KLIA with 66 Malaysians on board.

75 passengers were originally listed to be on the flight home, but nine of them could not make it due to various factors.

All of them will be screened at the air disaster unit at KLIA before being sent to a hostel where they will be quarantined for 14 days.

In the first humanitarian aid mission carried out earlier this month, a total of 107 Malaysians stranded in the Hubei province were flown home.
