Msia's COVID-19 cases have exceeded 1000

Malaysia's number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has now risen to 1,030. 

This after the Health Ministry reported 130 new cases today. 

Of the new cases, 48 were linked to the religious gathering in Sri Petaling, KL. 

The ministry says 26 patients are currently being treated in ICU, and require breathing assistance. 

12 more patients have been discharged from hospital, meaning a total of 87 patients have fully recovered. 

Msian army to assist police during MCO

The army will be deployed starting on Sunday, to help police ensure that Msians comply with the Movement Control Order. 

The Defence Minister says, the military's involvement will make it easier for authorities to enforce the order, as many Malaysians are still refusing to comply. 

He adds that for now, police will continue to use a 'friendly approach' but will impose though action if necessary. 

In addition, the police will continue to conduct roadblocks, while some 11 thousand vehicles have been checked to ensure order compliance. 

Selangor allocates RM120 million to COVID-19 affected citizens

The Selangor govt is allocating over 120 million ringgit to those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The allocation includes a food allowance for some six thousand health workers throughout the Movement Control Order.

Its Menteri Besar adds that the allocation will also focus on easing loan repayments, as well as rental exemptions for some licensed traders and hawkers.
