PM announces RM250 billion economic stimulus package

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has unveiled a RM250 billion economic stimulus package, to aid the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He announced that RM128 billion has been allocated towards the people’s welfare.

This includes cash assistance to be given to Malaysians in the B40 and M40 groups.

RM1,600 will be given to households with a monthly income of four thousand ringgit or less.

While, those earning between RM4,000 to RM8,000 monthly, will receive RM1,000.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin adds that the govt will also provide a 15 to 50% discount on electricity bills depending on consumer usage.

This will be applicable starting April 1st for the next 6 months.

Malaysia reports 3 more COVID-19 deaths, 26 in total

Malaysia’s COVID-19 death toll is now at 26, after 3 more fatalities were reported today.

The Health Director General adds that 130 new coronavirus cases have been detected, raising our tally to 2,161.

Over 3,400 Malaysians stranded in 61 countries

The Foreign Ministry says over 3,400 Malaysians are currently stranded in 61 countries worldwide, amid the global pandemic.

This, after more Malaysians registered themselves at the Malaysian Consulate General in Chennai, India.

The ministry says it will continue with efforts to bring them home.
