Malaysia reports 37 total COVID-19 deaths

Malaysia’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 37, after 3 more fatalities were reported today.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry says 156 new infection cases have been detected, bringing our tally to 2,626.

94 are currently in ICU, with 60 requiring breathing assistance.

91 patients were discharged from hospital - the highest number of recoveries in a single day.

Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says most were admitted over the last two weeks and discharged after testing negative.

This means a total of 479 patients have fully recovered.

2nd phase of MCO sees reduce in operating hours

The government has announced new operating hours for several essential services during the second phase of the Movement Control Order, or MCO.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says starting April 1st, hypermarkets, restaurants and petrol stations will only be allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm.

However, the operating hours for public transport remains unchanged.

Malaysia reports 2 new COVID-19 orange zones

There are now 12 COVID-19 orange zones in Malaysia, after Pekan, Pahang and Putrajaya both detected at least 20 infection cases in the area.

The Health Ministry adds that the country still only has 15 red zones, after no new areas have been reported.

However, the number of cases in red zones nationwide has continued to grow, with the most severe areas still in Selangor and KL.
