PM announces additional stimulus package for SMEs

The government has announced an additional stimulus package, targeted to assist SMEs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says among the new measures, the government’s Wage Subsidy Scheme will be expanded, with its allocation increased to RM13.8 billion.

Depending on the size of the SME, employees who earn up to RM4,000 a month will receive wage subsidies of between RM600 to RM1,200.

He also announced rental discounts and waivers for SME’s located at premises owned by the government.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin also said that those whose names are not on the Inland Revenue Board’s database can also apply for Bantuan Prihatin Nasional.

Malaysia's total COVID-19 deaths at 62

Malaysia has reported one more COVID-19 death, raising our total fatalities to 62.

The Health Ministry also says that Malaysia now has 3,793 infection cases, after 131 new cases were detected today.

102 are currently in ICU, with 54 needing breathing assistance.

In all 1,241 patients have now made full recoveries, or around 33 percent of total cases.

PDRM records increase in arrests for defying the MCO

More Malaysians have been caught defying the Movement Control Order, or MCO.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says over 500 people were arrested yesterday, up 51% from the previous day.

He says according to PDRM, it may be because people wanted to go out during the weekend.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Ismail says the Cabinet has decided to revoke the approval given to two alcoholic beverage makers, to keep their factories open during the MCO.
