Health DG: "Try not to travel even after MCO"
May 01, 2020
Malaysians are advised to avoid non-essential domestic and international travel even after the MCO is lifted.
The Health Director-General says travel restrictions have played a major part in helping us contain the Covid-19 outbreak, and travelling extensively again will only undo all the hard work.
Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah adds that Malaysia will also need to be on guard against imported Covid-19 cases, now that other countries have started opening up their borders.
No permanent record
Those who are found guilty of violating the MCO will not have their names recorded in the criminal register.
The confirmation came from IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
However, he says people should not use this as an excuse to breach the Movement Control Order, warning that fines or jail sentences will still be imposed on offenders.
Fight against fake news continues
Separately, the police, together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, have opened 249 investigation papers relating to fake news.
The MCMC’s Rapid Response Team has also managed to debunk 243 pieces of fake news about Covid-19 since the team’s inception in March.
