PM to announce new SOPs on Monday

The Prime Minister is expected to announce new SOPs to combat the country’s COVID-19 outbreak this coming Monday.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the National Security Council is currently fine tuning the matter.

On another note, Datuk Seri Ismail says teachers returning to Sabah and Sarawak for the academic year MUST get themselves tested for the coronavirus.

The cost of testing will be covered by the government.

Malaysia reports 16 more COVID-19 deaths

16 more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus, raising our death toll to 537.

Meanwhile, Malaysia reported 2,643 new cases.

Selangor recorded the highest number with 1,086 infections, followed by 401 in Sabah, and Johor 298.

Thaipusam in Penang cancelled due to COVID-19

This year's Thaipusam celebration in Penang has been cancelled for the first time in over a century.

State authorities say it's to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As such, all devotees have been urged to conduct celebrations at home.
