Covid-19 death toll breaches 500 mark
Jan 18, 2021
Malaysia’s overall death toll from Covid-19 hit 601 yesterday after 7 people succumbed to the virus.
The Health Ministry says 3,339 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, the fifth consecutive day with more than 3,000 new daily cases.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has welcomed advice and ideas from health experts to reduce the number of Covid-19 infections in the country, and its impact on the lives of people.
He also invited some signatories of an open letter written by health experts earlier this month, to meet him and the Health Minister to further discuss the matter.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin says he will continue to put aside politics and focus on mobilising an all-of-society fight against the coronavirus.
Two men wearing the pink bracelets issued by the Health Ministry were among five individuals compounded yesterday for breaching SOPs under the reinstated MCO.
Police say the duo were found going about their day in Putrajaya and compounded for flouting the mandatory home quarantine order.
