Vaccine plans on track despite EU export curbs

The Pfizer vaccine manufactured in Belgium will be delivered as planned this month, despite export controls that are being imposed by the European Union.

Putrajaya says our Covid-19 immunisation plan is expected to proceed according to schedule, following assurances of both the EU and Belgian ambassadors.

Meanwhile, according to an AFP tally, more than 100 million Covid-19 vaccines have been given around the world, however none of the world's 29 poorest countries has formally started mass vaccination drives.

There are currently seven vaccines circulating globally, all designed to be given in two doses.

Daily Covid-19 infections declined for the second straight day as the nation reported 3,455 new cases yesterday.

However, in the same period, the Health Ministry reported a record high of 21 fatalities, taking the death toll just nine shy of 800.

Active cases currently stand at almost 48 thousand.

This as Malaysia extends MCO 2.0 for two more weeks until February 18th.

Four more schools and one private kindergarten in Sabah have been ordered closed after several Covid-19 cases were detected there.

So far, 10 education facilities have been shut in the state.
