The Health Ministry is in talks with pharmaceutical company Pfizer to obtain another 30 percent of its Covid-19 vaccine, Comirnaty.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba says this would cover half our population.

He adds that the national immunisation programme might be implemented earlier, than February 26 as Malaysia is expected to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine a little earlier.

In a related development, scientists advising the WHO have recommended the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in all adults of all ages.

This comes after a number of countries decided not to give the jab to those aged over 65 due to doubts about its effectiveness in that age group.

This is a system designed to store personal immunisation records and vaccine data to give travellers a hassle-free experience when travelling during the pandemic.
