New guideline to prevent vaccine queue jumping

Mar 01, 2021

new guideline to prevent vaccine queue jumping

The government has issued a guideline listing down the frontliners who are eligible to be vaccinated during the first phase of the National COVID-19 Immunization program.

Khairy Jamaluddin, the minister in charge of the programme, says it's to prevent queue jumping, following reports that non-priority individuals were given access to the vaccines last week.

Meanwhile, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry says so far, 1.4 million Malaysians, or just over 6% of the population, have already registered for the vaccine, through the MySejahtera App.

Stern action could be taken against those caught jumping the queue to receive the COVID-19 vaccine during the first phase of the National Immunization program.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba says there are provisions under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act to deal with queue jumpers.

This comes amid viral allegations that non-priority individuals are cutting queues for the vaccine.
