Mar 05, 2021

beware of fake covid-19 vaccines!

The public has been urged to beware of fake Covid-19 vaccines that are being sold on the internet.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says Malaysia is working with Interpol to monitor syndicates selling counterfeit vaccines.

“There are parties who took advantage (by offering the vaccine to the public) online and there are also individuals who claim that they are agents from certain companiess who have approached us to take the Covid-19 vaccines from them,”

Earlier, police received two reports regarding a scam involving the sale of the Covid-19 vaccines - the losses amounting to almost RM300,000.

Meanwhile, Putrajaya says only the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and the Health Ministry are authorised to manage the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

This following claims that there are agents of Covid-19 vaccine manufacturers who can help the public secure supplies.

Malaysia should be able to flatten the Covid-19 infection curve in two weeks’ time!

The Health Ministry says this could be achieved if the infectivity rate, which is showing signs of improvement in several states, continues.

This comes as 2,063 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday (March 4), along with 5 deaths.
