MOH says Salmonella monitoring is always being conducted
Mar 15, 2021
The Health Ministry will work with the Vet Department to inspect the premises and chicken eggs discovered contaminated with Salmonella enteritidis.
It says so far, nearly 370 chicken egg samples have been analysed and only two of those contain the bacteria.
This comes following reports that Singapore had suspended the import of eggs from a Malaysian company over food safety concerns.
Still on the matter, the Vet Department says the suspension of egg export from the farm in Jeram, Selangor will not affect the supply of eggs for the local market.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry has issued a temporary suspension order on egg exports from this company to enable an investigation into the
cause of Salmonella.
The number of Covid-19 recoveries once again exceeded new cases, with 1,782 patients discharged yesterday, compared to 1,354 new infections.
Selangor had the highest number of infections, followed by Sarawak and Penang.
There were also four additional fatalities, bringing the nationwide death toll to 1,210.
A recreational club in Pahang has been fined RM50,000 over two violations of the Recovery Movement Control Oder SOPs.
Police say the organiser had failed to adhere to the physical distancing SOP and they organised a lion dance show, which is not allowed during the RMCO.
