Health DG: Look out for depression signs in loved ones

The public has been urged to be more aware of their surroundings to detect early symptoms of depression which could lead to suicidal tendencies.

The Health Ministry revealed that the number of suicide cases reported to the police rose to 631 in 2020 from 609 the previous year.

It says the Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact towards the mental health of individuals all over the world.

Malaysia reported 6,437 Covid-19 cases yesterday- the first time in 11 days it climbed above 6 thousand mark.

Active cases have been on a 5-day uptrend.

The number of patients who need intensive care, meanwhile, has risen to 905.

Another 107 patients succumbed to the virus.

The one-off movement approval permit given to all self-employed individuals, which ended on Monday, is automatically extended until July 7.

The IGP says those permits were given to the self-employed like plumbers, maintenance workers, and hawkers for movements during the lockdown period.
