New COVID-19 cases drop below 9k mark

Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 cases has dropped below the 9 thousand mark.
8,574 infections were detected nationwide, with Selangor alone accounting for almost half of the total.
Negeri Sembilan had the second most cases, ahead of KL, and Kedah.
Meanwhile, the death toll rose by 102, to 6,260.

Tan Sri Annuar Musa slapped with fine for violating SOPs
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has been issued a compound for breaching COVID-19 SOPs.
Dang Wangi police say that was compounded RM2,000.
Tan Sri Annuar recently posted on social media that he and his wife visited the home of former PM Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Finance Ministry expects GDP to be lowered due to COVID-19
The government is expected to lower Malaysia's 2021 economic forecast, due to the current COVID-19 situation.
The Finance Ministry now projects GDP to grow by around 4%.
This is compared to its initial prediction of a 6 to 7% expansion.
