Health DG: 11.7% of Wed's Covid-positive persons already vaccinated
Jul 29, 2021
11.7% of the 17,405 Covid-19 cases reported yesterday, involved vaccinated individuals.
The Health Director General says most of them were asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients.
However, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah did not state whether the patients were fully vaccinated or not.
Malaysia has decided to hold off its plan to vaccinate those aged between 12 and 17, pending further studies and clinical data.
This is after the US reported of possible long term heart complications for teens who took Pfizer.
However, vaccine authorities say exceptions are made for those with chronic illness on a voluntary basis.
Khairy Jamaluddin has assured that all expenditure and agreements for vaccine procurement and the implementation of the vaccination drive will be presented to the Public Accounts Committee.
The Immunisation Programme Minister says this is to ensure transparency and openness of the programme as it involved a huge allocation.
Meanwhile, the UK will contribute 415 thousand doses of the UK-made AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to Malaysia.
