43 new Delta Covid-19 cases detected in the country

43 new Covid-19 cases of the Delta variant have been detected in the country.

Health officials say 38 of them were detected in Selangor while 5 were found in KL.

This now brings the caseload involving the strain to 467.

JPJ will not extend the renewal period of road tax and driving licences beyond September 30.

It says renewals can be done online via its MySikap JPJ portal, MyEG or by appointment at its outlets.

Meanwhile, it is offering a discount of up to 70% on all compoundable summonses from today until September 16.

Barisan Nasional has named Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as its candidate for the vacant PM post.

This was confirmed by Umno sec gen Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

On the other hand, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said that he and his PKR counterpart, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are in the running to be the opposition’s candidate for the top leader post.

However, Shafie says this will depend on who can get the additional support needed from outside the bloc of opposition parties.

All MPs will have to submit their statutory declaration nominating a candidate as the 9th Prime Minister by 4pm today to Istana Negara.
