Azalina quits as Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker

Datuk Seri Azalina Othman has resigned as Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker.

She cited several reasons for her resignation, including conflict of roles and responsibilities between being an UMNO supreme council member and MP in a ruling coalition.

Malaysia has reported a drop in the number of active cases nationwide, with 260 thousand patients still ill with the virus.

This ends a 58-day streak of new cases outnumbering recoveries

More than 19 thousand people recovered from Covid-19 yesterday, compared to 17,672 new cases.

Pahang is expected to move into Phase 3 of the national recovery plan very soon after meeting all the threshold indicators, including the percentage of those fully vaccinated. 

It will be the fourth state to enter Phase 3 after Perlis, Sarawak and the federal territory of Labuan.
