Interstate travel ban has been lifted

The government will not implement a blanket MCO, if there’s a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The PM says they will instead use the targeted approach, by enforcing the Enhanced MCOs in certain localities.

This following the easing of interstate travel ban, which comes into effect today for fully vaccinated individuals.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is hoping that Malaysians will not take the SOPs lightly as they now have the freedom to travel.

He says the police will continue to run random spot checks for SOP compliance.

However, the IGP confirmed that roadblocks will continue to be mounted in Enhanced MCO areas.

As for overseas travel, the PM says the fully vaccinated can travel overseas for any reason starting today, without applying via MyTravelPass.

However, they will still have to quarantine upon return for now, but this is being studied.

Malaysia is still not yet open to foreign tourists.

The lifting of these restrictions came about after Malaysia achieved its 90% target for fully vaccinated adults.

Children below the age of 12 are expected to be vaccinated against Covid-19 next year.

The Health Ministry says they are one of the most vulnerable, adding that the number of infections involving kids is going up.

The Health Ministry is planning to establish a National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health.

The centre will function as a research centre as well as educate and help people affected by mental illness.
