No political gatherings until Nov 27 due to Covid-19 concerns
Oct 25, 2021
All political gatherings and events related to elections will not be allowed from today to November 27th.
The Health Minister says anyone found guilty of organising gatherings will be slapped with a compound or face charges in court.
This comes ahead of the Melaka state elections on November 20th.
The relaxation of various restrictions is likely contributing to the high number of symptomatic or sporadic cases in Sabah.
State officials say another reason is the declining adherence of SOPs.
They add people's eagerness to return to their pre-pandemic lifestyle led to negligence in adhering to the SOP while socialising at the workplace and in public.
Malaysia reported a slight drop in Covid-19 cases yesterday, with 5,666 infections.
The Health Ministry confirmed almost 7,000 recoveries.
