govt urged to reconsider political gathering ban

The government has been urged to reconsider its decision to ban political gatherings for the upcoming Melaka state election.

UMNO secretary general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan believes the gatherings should go ahead, as many are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Health Minister earlier announced that starting today, all political gatherings and campaign related events are banned until November 27th.

Khairy Jamaluddin says it's a precaution against the coronavirus, especially with the emergence of the Delta variant.
