Sarawak state legislative assembly dissolved
Nov 05, 2021
The Sarawak state legislative assembly has been dissolved.
This is after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong gave his consent to revoke the state of emergency on Wednesday.
The current state government will act as caretaker until a state election is called.
Meanwhile, the caretaker Chief Minister says the Gabungan Parti Sarawak government wanted the emergency to be lifted earlier.
Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says it is in line with their oath to preserve and protect the state and Federal constitutions.
He adds that authorities will officially notify the Election Commission to decide the dates for the 12th state election.
A state election must be held within 60 days.
