Index Omicron case tests negative for virus in second screening

The index case of Malaysia’s first Omicron Covid-19 infection has tested negative in the second round of screening.
The Health Ministry says all seven close contacts of the 19-year-old foreigner also tested negative.
Authorities have traced all 106 passengers who were on the same flight as the student.
A school in Cyberjaya that is affected by a mass Covid-19 breakout has been ordered to close temporarily.
This is after another 135 cases were detected involving teachers, students and staff, taking the total number of cases there to 274.
All of them are in stable condition.
Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 cases dipped slightly yesterday to 5,551.
Only 1.4% of them reported moderate to severe symptoms.
