The government expects to get clearer information about the Omicron Covid-19 variant within the next couple of weeks.

The Health Minister says this includes details like the infection rate, how contagious it is, and whether it could be resistant to current vaccines.

In the meantime, Khairy Jamaluddin says the government will continue with its existing SOP’s to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

A further 36 Covid-19 fatalities were reported yesterday.

Among the total, nine of the deaths were recorded in Sabah…Penang had six, while Johor and Kelantan had four each.

Meanwhile, more than 2.7 million adolescents in the country have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

This accounts for 86.4 percent of those aged between 12 and 17.

As for the adult population…97 percent have now completed their vaccinations.

More than 60 thousand doses of the booster shot were also administered yesterday.

China is planning to allow foreign students, including those from Malaysia, to return to the country and resume their studies.

Our Foreign Ministry says the matter is being discussed between the two governments, adding that priority will be given to final year students and those who need to be on campus.

The Road Transport Department is working with the MACC to investigate allegations that some JPJ officers were involved in selling illegal driving licenses.

The latest allegations were made by a social media influencer, who posted a video claiming that licenses can be bought without having to pass the driving test.
