New COVID-19 cases back to 5k

Daily COVID-19 cases in Malaysia have returned to the 5,000 mark.
This is after the Health Ministry reported 5,020 infections today.
It’s up by 55 cases compared to yesterday’s figure.

School COVID screenings to only use saliva test kits
COVID-19 screenings at schools are only allowed to be conducted using saliva test kits.
The Education Ministry says nasal swab tests are not allowed.
It was responding to a viral photo showing a school in Pahang conducting a nasal swab demonstration.

Govt urged to review SOPs for Thaipusam and Chingay festival
The government has been urged to reconsider its decision to ban processions during the Thaipusam and Chingay festivals next year.
The Jelutong MP reckons such activities can be conducted subject to strict COVID SOPs.
Yesterday, the National Unity Ministry said chariot processions will not be allowed during the upcoming festivities due to the emergence of Omicron.
