School Reopening Delayed Due To Floods

The reopening of schools has been postponed by one week.
The Senior Education Minister says schools in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will reopen on Sunday, January 9th, while those in other states will open on the 10th.
Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin says it's to give families more time to prepare, due to the flood situation...
He adds that some schools are being used as temporary flood relief centres.

PM: RM10k for next of kin of flood fatalities
The PM says the government will give 10 thousand ringgit to the next of kin of each victim who lost their life during the current floods.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says he will make sure that the aid is given promptly.
He adds, the government has also allocated 50 million ringgit to Pahang and Selangor, which are the two worst-hit states.
On another note, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has ordered his Cabinet ministers to cancel any plans to go overseas, to continue to help flood victims.
Those who are already abroad have been told to come back as soon as possible.

PDRM: Beware of Flood Fund Scams
Be careful when making donations to flood relief funds.
PDRM says it cannot rule out the possibility that scammers may try to take advantage of the situation to line their own pockets.
Bukit Aman's Commercial Crimes Department says while they have not received any reports of specific cases, it IS monitoring the situation.
Anyone with info on such cases can contact its Scam Response Centre, or lodge a report at the nearest police station.
