Death toll from Malaysia’s floods up to 54

The death toll from the recent massive floods has now reached 54.
Selangor has the highest number of deaths, at 25 people, followed by Pahang and Kelantan.
Meanwhile, two missing individuals had been reported in Pahang.
Nearly 10,000 people are currently being housed at flood evacuation centres in 6 states.
The number of evacuees in Johor is hovering at around 4 thousand, while over 2 thousand people are still seeking shelter in Sabah.
The remainder are in Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Melaka and Selangor.
The first case of the Omicron variant has been detected in Labuan.
The Omicron case is one of 13 new infections that are part of a new Covid-19 cluster on the island.
The patient is an Umrah pilgrim who arrived on December 21 last year.
