Jan 24, 2022

The KL High Court has ordered UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to enter his defence, on corruption charges linked to his charity foundation.

This is after it ruled that the prosecution esatablished their case against him.

The former DPM says he accepts the court's decision, and will testify on the witness stand.

UMNO's deputy president says he doubts that Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's ongoing corruption trial will impact on the party during the upcoming Johor state election.

He says certain this will NOT be a main factor during the polls.

We'll know the key dates for the upcoming Johor state election in about two weeks time.

This, after the Election Commission said it has received official notification about the dissolution of the state assembly.

It will meet on February 9th to discuss the nomination, early voting and polling dates for the election.

The state assembly was dissolved on Saturday.

It followed the death of the Kempas assemblyman, which left the state government with a 1-seat majority.

Meanwhile, the Deputy IGP says police are ready for the Johor election.

He adds that additional personnel could be deployed from other states to ensure that the election runs smoothly.
