No longer fully vaxxed can still dine-in - KJ

Those who will lose their fully vaccinated status tomorrow, will still be allowed to dine in at restaurants, enter shopping malls, places of worship and their workplace.

The Health Minister says this applies to Sinovac recipients and senior citizens who have not received their COVID-19 booster shot.

However, Khairy Jamaluddin stressed that the new SOP does not mean these recipients do not need to get the booster.

According to data, protection against COVID infection for those who received a double dose of Pfizer and Sinovac dropped by 20 and 48% respectively, three to five months after receiving the primer vaccination.

As such, those who have not taken the booster are encouraged to take the shot immediately.

MySejahtera check-ins may be scrapped

Check-ins via MySejahtera may soon be a thing of the past.

The Health Minister says the decision on whether to scrap check-ins will depend on its assessment of the COVID-19 infection trend after our international borders reopen.

Khairy Jamaluddin says the ministry will first observe the mobility and infection pattern for several weeks.

He was responding to the Malaysian Medical Association, who earlier said that MySejahtera is no longer useful to trace casual contacts due to the country’s high transmission rate.

New COVID-19 cases 15,941; 33 deaths

Malaysia reported a slight rise in daily COVID-19 infections at 15,941 yesterday, which is nearly 730 cases less than the previous day’s tally.

Meanwhile, 33 more fatalities were reported nationwide, including 11 brought-in-dead cases.

Most of the deaths were recorded in Johor and Kedah, with six fatalities each.

There were also more than 21,000 recoveries.
