JPJ launch traffic op for Hari Raya Haji

Jul 07, 2022

jpj launch traffic op for hari raya haji

JPJ has launched the Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Op, which will run until next Wednesday.

This is to ensure the safety of road users as they make their way back to their hometowns.

The operation will focus on nine major offences including speeding, driving on emergency lanes, and not wearing a helmet or seat belt.

JPJ personnel will also go undercover in express buses to ensure drivers follow traffic regulations.

This comes after PLUS Malaysia said some 2 million motorists are expected to travel via the North-South Expressway during the festive period.

Kedah to bear rent for flood victims

The Kedah government says it will bear the temporary six-month rental accommodation for victims who lost their homes due to the flooding in Baling.

The state Menteri Besar says so far 15 houses have been deemed unfit to live in, including some that were swept away by strong currents.

He adds that currently, over a dozen houses have been reported damaged and need major repairs, while authorities are still determining the number of houses with minor damages.

Meanwhile, Baling police have warned that stern action will be taken against anyone found loitering in flooded areas to create social media content.

Cops say those who enter the area with the intention of gaining social media popularity could be prosecuted for obstructing civil servants from performing their duties.
