7 million Malaysians still not boosted

So far, some seven million Malaysians have yet to take the COVID-19 booster shot.

The Prime Minister says even though it is not mandatory to take the booster, it is vital especially as Malaysia faces new variants such as the more infectious Omicron BA.5 subvariant.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob adds that the government has no plans to close economic sectors again, despite the rise in new cases.

However, he stressed that Malaysians must continue to take precautionary measures, including taking the booster dose.

MATTA wants jail for travel agencies that cheat haj pilgrims

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents wants travel agencies that cheat haj pilgrims to face the full brunt of the law.

MATTA says it wants such cases to be considered as a serious crime with a prison sentence to prevent the scam from happening again.

It also advised pilgrims to ensure they have a haj visa, and to not pay before they are guaranteed a flight.

This is after nearly 400 prospective pilgrims were stranded at KLIA recently, after they were allegedly scammed by a travel agency.
